On the Boulevard de Grenelle which is located 2 minutes from the apartment, you will find all amenities: cafes, restaurants, supermarket, grocery store and bakery… You can also take the RER located 5 minutes away and go straight to Versailles to spend the day visiting the park and the castle. There is also – very close to the apartment – the boarding boats to visit Paris on the Seine. It is a pleasant and relaxing thing to do!

The Invalides neighborhood is located throughout the 7th and part of the 15th arrondissements. It is bordered to the north by the Seine. It is a prestigious neighborhood that is home to many monuments and government agencies. The most remarkable monument being the Eiffel Tower, an iron tower built in 1889 by Gustave Eiffel, it is 312 meters tall and overlooks the Champ-de-Mars, which was just a plain, the Grenelle plain. It was the site of a shootout during the Revolution, and it would later calm down to become today’s “Champ-deMars,” an open public garden that hosts many concerts, as well as our annual National fireworks display on July 14th. It ends at the Ecole Militaire, which was built starting in 1751, and which had one particular student who was destined for fame: Napoleon Bonaparte. This building remains dedicated to military education today. The rue Saint-Dominique, which connects the Champ-de-Mars with Invalides, is a commercial street, and the other streets and avenues are lined more with business buildings or government ministries. The National Assembly, housed in the Palais Bourbon, is located on Quai Bourbon. Heading east, along the Seine, you will find the Musée d’Orsay, housed on the quai in the former Gare d’Orsay train station. From there, heading south, you will enter the Latin Quarter via the rue du Bac. To the south, at the edge of the 6th arrondissement, is the oldest of the Parisian department stores, “Au Bon Marché ” to visit. It dates back to 1838, and today is called “Le Bon Marché,” but don’t let the name fool you, which means “cheap;” it mainly sells luxury products today. The Invalides neighborhood is well served by the metro as well as the RER.
